Slack DM automation for customer conversations

If your buyers live in Slack, let them DM your app and get an answer, a button and the right link in seconds, during working hours or not.

Updated October 12, 2026 · DMCircuit v1.0.0
Short answer

DMCircuit connects to a Slack app you create. When someone DMs that app, it answers with your keyword rules or Claude, with up to 5 buttons and up to 3,000 characters. It reads only messages sent to your app, never channels or other people's DMs, and checks every request with Slack's signing secret.

Who it's for

Slack suits business-to-business products: communities you run on Slack, and shared Slack Connect channels with customers. Prospects ask the same questions they would on Instagram (pricing, onboarding, integrations), and DMCircuit answers them from your knowledge base, then hands anything sensitive to a person.

What it can and can't do

  • Can: answer DMs to your app with keyword rules and Claude, show up to 5 buttons, send tracked offer links, and include Slack in campaigns to subscribers (and recent conversations if you choose).
  • Can't: read channels or anyone else's DMs. It sees only messages sent to your app.
  • Depends on: each workspace's admins, who decide whether your app may be installed.

How setup works

  1. Create a Slack app with the bot scopes chat:write and im:history.
  2. Turn on the Messages Tab in App Home.
  3. Subscribe to the message.im event and turn on Interactivity, both at your-address/webhooks/slack.
  4. Save the signing secret and bot token in DMCircuit's Platforms settings, then test in the dashboard's Test console.

Campaigns on Slack

Claude favors weekday working hours for Slack and writes concise, professional variants. Every message ends with “Reply STOP to opt out.”

  • STOP, unsubscribe and similar one-word replies stop every automated message to that person on that platform until they send START.
  • Security issues, refunds, legal questions, press, angry messages and “talk to a human” pause the bot for that person for 24 hours and alert you by email and phone.
  • No more than 6 bot messages per contact per hour, and one emergency switch silences every automated send.

Questions

Does DMCircuit read my Slack channels?

No. It receives only the direct messages people send to your Slack app.

How are Slack requests verified?

Every request is checked with Slack's v0 signing secret; requests with bad signatures are rejected and rate-limited.

Can it run outreach in Slack?

Campaigns go only to subscribers and, if you choose, people who recently messaged your app. There is no cold outreach.

Try it before you set it up

The live demo runs the real dashboard against a fictional coaching business, with every page clickable and nothing sent. When you are ready, the build handbook walks through setup in the browser.
